The Lost City of Maya : “El Mirador” in Guatemala
No CommentsRead moreThe ancient site was once the thriving capital of Mayan civilization taken Over by Jungle (6th century BCE~ 1st century CE)
The site is undergoing approximately 25-year excavation project by the director of archaeology named “Richard D. Hansen”.
It is the largest known ancient Mayan city and also the oldest. Which even predates “Tikal”.
Here, one of the Pyramids called “La Danta” is the largest pyramid in the world. (not the tallest)
The perimeter of this city is greater than the size of downtown Los Angeles and only 3~4% have been excavated so far according to Dr. Hansen.
If you are lucky enough to cross paths with the archaeologists at the site then you will get to see the underground passage beneath one of the structure called Jaguar Paw Temple (structure 34),
the remote location of El Mirador has prevented it from becoming a popular tourist site; trekking 5 days into the jungle being the shortest route.
According to the archaeological site management record; the number of people visited the site during last year in total was 300~400 people and is on the rise steadily.
This is approximately 2500 year-old remnants of history.
If you love solitude in nature and interested in history, then this is definitely the place I strongly recommend visiting.
This article will be a guide on how to get to El Mirador.
In order to start the trek to El Mirador basin, one needs to reach the town called Flores up north of Guatemala.
Once you arrive in Flores, there is an Agency named Cooperativa Carmelita There is a man named Juan Carlos (+502 4836 9423) who can arrange you with
a guide to take you to El Mirador Basin. I recommend you to stay at least one night at the town Flores before trekking into the jungle. Keep in mind that it will be more pleasant to walk during the dry season when the mud is less swampy. Once you get to Isla de Flores, Juan Carlos will lead you to a cheap hotel (50 quetzales) 10 steps away from the agency. The cost for 5 days trek to El Mirador was 1500 Guatemalan quetzales (around 200 USD) all inclusive that comes with meals, guide, and camping equipments.
Almost any price is negotiable with the people around here. This was the lowest price I have gotten during my time.Agencia de Viajes Cooperativa Carmelita R.L. Phone: 7867 5629
This Agency is a solid one you can trust. The money they earn supports the community village near the El Mirador Basin called “Carmelita”.**Tintal is the first base-camp site**
For many years now, the ‘cooperativa’ had the intention of handling all of the tourism in the area, but they’ve always been defunct for the most part. Now it seems they have become more organized and are controlling all tourism entering the Mirador Basin through the village of CarmelitaAfter having breakfast at Carmelita, the trek begins towards El Mirador.
The map of El Mirador city ( source: http://www.wondermondo.com/Countries/NA/Guatemala/Peten/ElMirador.htm)
Approximately walking about 22~23 km average per day for the first two days and then stay two nights at the second base-camp in “Acropolis Central” where you will visit “El Tigre”, “The Jaguar Paw Temple (structure 34)” and the pyramid “La Danta”.

A Search For Tarahumara Indians
No CommentsRead moreI thank
Loria, Martin, Jonathan’s Dad and Jonathan and Miguel for guiding me and giving me a lift.Probably one of the best experience shared with the Tarahumara Indian family near Creel in Copper Canyon. I look back and I will never forget their names and faces.
Before parting with these humble family, I never felt this heart-warming while spending a night with them.
Alberto: the middle kid of the family whom I spent the most time with, took me around his playground. We made a little fire using his technique to gather materials as fast as we could. We picked up some plumbs around the trees as a snack. Helped them cook for dinner, wash clothes, and shared the moment together even though we couldn’t understand a word we were saying to each other.
Everything was so pure. I never felt so free in my life for this short period of time. I gave myself in to ask for their permission to take me in as a guest in order to learn more about their culture and lifestyle just for a night.
The elderly woman called “Petra” without a second of hesitation made me feel at home.
Alberto became pretty fond of me and I felt the same way.
Before leaving, I had a sense he wasn’t happy to see me leave.
It was difficult for me to leave behind again as always. He then decided to give me his hand-made jewelry carved out of bone and strings made out of tree barks.
The craftsmanship of these people are just amazing.
I was feeling very sad and at the same time put me in a state of indescribable feeling I haven’t felt in a long time.—Edited and shot by—

Barancas Del Cobre (Copper Canyon) and Tarahumara Indians
1 CommentRead moreThe Copper Canyon (“Barancas Del Cobre” in spanish) is a is a group of canyons consisting of six distinct canyons in the Sierra Madre Occidental in the southwestern part of the state of Chihuahua in northwestern Mexico.
The system of canyons here is larger and deeper than the Grand Canyon in the neighboring United States, although the Grand Canyon is larger overall than any of the individual canyons of the Copper Canyon system. The Copper Canyon is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Though the area would be Mexico’s star national park, it thus far has no official status as a park as efforts to make it so have been hampered by disagreements between loggers and the native Raramuri.
This area is rich in biodiversity, cultural history, and is the site of a growing tourist infrastructure. The town of Creel is probably the most popular gateway to the canyonlands. (http://www.traveldudes.org/travel-tips/copper-canyon-mexico-larger-and-deeper-grand-canyon/2393)
The Raramuri or Tarahumara native people who are mostly living a semi-nomadic and agricultural lifestyle. They are the descendant from the Aztec culture and they speak their own language called Tarahumara. Also well known as the “mountain runners”.
During the Spanish Colonialist’s invasion, the native people fled into this canyon to hide and to this day the culture of Tarahumara remains.Copper Canyon Railway (Chepe) Price and schedule for ECONOMY CLASS *note that economy class only runs during high season.
Copper Canyon Railway (Chepe) Ticket price and schedule for FIRST CLASS EXPRESS (honestly can’t see the difference between economy but the price is higher) * this one runs during whatever seasons.
Here is the Train station Location Address from Los Mochis
Av. Bienestar 8, Ferrocarrilera, 81265 Los Mochis, Sin
Link to the Map
The Route
If you are starting your Copper Canyon Railway trip from Los Mochis, Keep in mind that the train will leave at 6AM and that is the only train for the passengers.
CREEL
The main town in Copper Canyon
Chepe train stop at the town called “Creel”
Creel: is also known as the portal for many nearby activities
The Three Amigos is the private tour and guide team. I personally haven’t gone anywhere with the tour guide all I needed was information and they can tell you everything.
If you are a budget traveler I suggest not using any of the hotel guides and the price there are expensive. Instead, what I did was to walk around the town and usually the local people who are in the town center are looking for tourists or travelers who needs a guide and with them there is no such fixed price. So you can negotiate and sometimes if they like you they even take you on for free.
The Copper Canyon Railway is over 390 miles in length and crosses 39 bridges and 86 tunnels. It is a stunning piece of engineering achievement. opened after decades of construction in 1961.Before getting onto the train, I mounted a camera on top of it. I needed to get it off before going into the tunnel. There was more than enough time but I just needed to be very careful even though the staffs there agreed for me to go get it. There are times when the line between risk and recklessness can be hard to distinguish.
How to get to the very front side of the train? In Mexico, you can pretty much request this sort of thing with a little bit of extra money. When we gathered about 5 people to come join, we split the bill so each only payed 100 Mexican pesos (around4~5 US dollars) to the driver and they allowed us to go up there for 15 minutes.
I was looking for Tarahumara indians who would let me spend a night with them to experience their lifestyle and culture. As well as for my personal travel journal documentary for later on… There is a cable car station in Divisadero adventure park that will reach this exact place. After you reach the other peak of the canyon, you will come to meet with the Tarahumara people and they are usually there to sell their hand-crafted jewelries and other utilities.Alberto: the middle kid of the family

How to Promote Your Brand
No CommentsRead moreIt all start with a question. It doesn’t matter what you ask “just that you ask”. Because the questions you will find are more important than the answers.
Curiosity gives birth to boldness and dares us to try.
It’s how we got to where we are today and how will get to wherever we will be tomorrow.
————————————————————————————————————————
This is a video I made just for fun! A guerilla marketing tactic I used to experiment with ideas while I’m backpack traveling around. The purpose of this promotional material is not to promote a “product or service”. It is primarily to promote “ideas” and “insight” into how Curiousity can be ignited by simple act of stepping out of comfort zone.
if you have any other cool suggestion I could do please let me know on the comment section. I will credit your name on screen for idea contribution. This will be an ongoing process.

Journey To The East 3
2 CommentsPrevious Video Next VideoRead more17 of September 2016. My last day at my cousin’s house I was at a balcony thinking “I will miss this warm and power-fed comfy family house already.” My cousin and his fiancé really made a great effort of keeping me feel at home and it was an amazing reunion since I haven’t seen him for a long time.
Farm view from the front house door
From now on the real journey begins. Right now I’m posting this in the middle of late night on the 21st of September 4days later after I arrived at the farm. Everything is new to me here.. I am slowly learning the ways of organic farming and self-sustainable lifestyle. It is indeed hard to get used to all of this but today this afternoon I had the proudest moment of digging onions and potatoes. Oh boy the satisfaction you get when you see those crops lined up that you hand picked and harvested.
I don’t know how I will be able to move on after I leave Canada.. moneyless journey it is.. I try not to think too much about the future of this long travel just keep on reflecting and learning everything that is in this every moment now.
Ah well, time is running pretty late now and I am suppose to wake up early this morning so I’ll end it here
so, stay CurioUs!

In 1929, Reverend Harold Edwardson established a soup kitchen in Edmonton’s inner-city serving meals to hundreds of people struggling with unemployment and homelessness at the onset of the Depression.
Today Hope Mission has grown into a not-for-profit Christian social care agency caring for impoverished and homeless men, women and children in Alberta.

The Culture of Fear (Bowling for Columbine)
No CommentsRead moreToday I was watching a spectacular documentary called “bowling for columbine” made in 2002 and made me rethink a lot about my travel motives and the trajectories of this entire trip. It gave me insight about what I should be aware of before going into each country.
This was a realization of what it means to go on a lone-journey and to record things I learned from each society to piece puzzles together. This magnificent piece of work is about general proliferation of guns and the high homicide rate in America. The quest to find what makes United states to have such a high homicidal rate. At the end of this documentary it boiled down to an impression of massive difference between Canada and the U.S.

I haven’t been here in Canada for long but I can already feel at home, or should I say… safe and warm. I am not yet pointing out that America is flat out dangerous without even living and experiencing myself. However, according to what I know about the history, societal background, demographics, and myriads of other information that I could gather about the nation as a whole; it gives an impression of being very unstable and contradictory. Even though this has been released while ago it still relates to all of us in a fundamental level.
I will not write out every details of personal impressions and information provided in the documentary mentioned above. This is one of the reflection on what a society has long forgotten not just as individuals, but as a whole global family on this planet we share.
When people ask me about my travel route, they will tell me and say, “it is dangerous to go there, I heard South America is filled with Zika virus, America is number one homicide rate in the world!” And countless other reasons to not go just because you haven’t had experience of it. It came clear to me now that it is not the people itself that are dangerous but fear of danger is what makes other people dangerous. In other words, it is the fear of other people that puts you into dangerous situations.
There seems to be an underlying absence of the way some people tend to perceive or understand about things.
For example, when we look at an angry man with a person A, some people only think that an angry man is inherently imbedded with that personality so they blame that angry person for being angry, regardless of the relationships of the environment and the embodiment of the whole situation with the other person called A.; ignoring the root cause of why the man was angry.
When we try to identify problems without a holistic point of view, it is indeed very difficult to understand what the root cause is.
Whatever you do, danger is always present no matter where you are at and who you are with; because after all.. We’re not going to get out alive (haha)!
knowing this fact can only make things clear. It is a matter of choice between either shutting yourself into a never-ending quest for security or freedom of unknown adventures.

Leaving Everything Behind- Preface (draft)
No CommentsRead morePreface
Picture of my parents kayaking at Lake Shikotsu in Hokkaido Japan.
I am not a very good writer nor an experienced one. From now on I will be writing down my thoughts, experiences, and emotional phases throughout the journey itself. Just like talking to my mind and recording as much as I can. Today is 29th of August 2016 1:22 am in Seoul Korea; typing down on my laptop in my tiny room. I can hear crickets in the background through my windows.. So silent and drenched inside the calm emptiness of my mind. 30th of August, Tuesday tomorrow is the day for me to depart and leave everything behind; my home, family, my pet Momo, and well of course some comfortable and cushy bed and mom-cooked meals ha. I am not sure what I’m feeling at this moment. It was so exciting to think that I’ll be leaving on my own; journeying across continents with amazing adventures to come. But now that I have only one day left before I say goodbye to all of this comfortable and secure yet “something-is-missing” vibe of life, the excitement for leaving is somewhat drifted to something else.. It is certain that I don’t feel as excited as before while I was preparing this sort of world travel for two years but that doesn’t mean I’m regretting my decision or saying that my enthusiasm for adventure has changed.
Perhaps my restless mind gave me no choice but to write it down in order to find out what’s bugging me. I should’ve gotten used to this thing long ago; used to being away with everyone else I knew since I was little, having to leave every time I make new friendships and getting detached from the people I love. All of this was an experience that accumulated to where I am now. I guess if someone asks me why I decided to travel the world on my own with no money, it’s because I just felt like doing so. Whatever the cause is whether it is to escape a certain way of life or to simply find oneself into the grand scheme of natural flow, it doesn’t really matter to think about it now. Because I should know better than anyone else that there was no shadow of doubt when making this decision.
Although, there are some people who are worried about me… I get a mixed feelings all at once. Especially right now when I have hard time falling asleep at night and thinking about my parents next door; peaking through their room and see if they’re asleep. Seems like they are also having a hard time falling asleep. I can see the sadness in her eyes.. Knowing that one day I would leave but sooner than she thought and wishing that she could’ve done more. The reflection in her eyes welded deep into my soul thinking that I haven’t been a greatest child hehe! and being a trouble maker since I was a little boy keeping them on the edge of seat in the distant days.. Makes me chuckle and attached at the same time. I owe them my life and I will never forget their presence of concern so I will make sure to ease their mind while I’m on my journey. I know I would never be able to repay them for just being my parents and just simply in presence with us without any hard-core illness and severe health issues throughout this stage of life. I am happy that I will be on my way to find myself and get a little bit of burden off of them.
Ahh that bit got a little bit emotional for a while and it is time to sign off.

13 ways to travel freely
No CommentsRead more13 ways to travel freely
Can you travel around the globe independent from money? In other words can you be absolutely free from financial restriction? To answer this honestly, yes and no.
If you are a type of person who can’t handle a little bit of discomfort while traveling then the answer is no. The so called “no-money travel” isn’t just a cheap way of traveling as a sort of leisure trip. It is a way of exploring one’s discomfort and freedom. This is possible when you let go all your stress in material value and open up to more experiential values, awareness, and abilities that you hone during the journey itself.
If you are looking for international experience but don’t have the cash to spray upon or if you are simply looking for what true freedom tastes like, sounds like and feels like then this article is for you. You don’t need thousands of dollars to get yourself on the track. In fact, all you need is some creativity, some guts and enthusiasm, and some ideas to get you started. Some of the ideas below are sensible ones and others are a little more risqué.
it is amazing what some people will do to save a buck!
Don’t let your empty wallet stop you from taking the trip of a lifetime. Remember; with the right attitude, amazing things are waiting for you just beyond the self-made border.
1.Volunteer Abroad
There are plenty of volunteer opportunities you can take abroad where most of them might not pay for your plane tickets but some will offer shelter and food during the duration of your volunteer service. To give you an example; there are volunteer abroad exchange programs for foreigners to teach languages. If you speak more than one or two languages that is great! You got one of the most valuable assets up your sleeves but this is just one example. Here is a very helpful article regarding on this topic by Natalie Southwick
Volunteering abroad allows you to explore and experience new knowledge in whatever field or cause it may be. Furthermore, you will be in a community that will further help you out in your next destination or journey. Whether that is information about the destination itself or local experiences you wouldn’t have got just by surfing through online. This is an exchange for your time and effort stemming from your independent will so don’t ever be afraid to ask kindly to simple help from others. You can always generate more value so be confident in your action!
2.Fundraise
An option that is possible when you can prepare and present to the audience what your cause is for traveling in certain places. If you have a strong cause to travel that could be of benefit to others then this is the platform for you to start some fundraising. This fundraising method can come in countless forms from charity to raising awareness to business opportunities to entertainment and content creation. If you have great ideas and also have time to dedicate on crafting your goal then this is the right tool for you.
To give you some more information,
There are two major fundraising portal sites called Trevolta and Kickstarter
3.Undertake Apprenticeship
Although, this might sound like something out of star-wars where jedi seeking for master to be the apprentice; it is actually quite different than that of course. You will be amazed how simple this can be done than you might think.
To give you a brief story, I was at a mountain hike one day on my penniless-journey in South Korea to capture the beauty of nature surrounding the mountain range on top with my heavy equipped camera gears. On my way down I saw quite an odd yet intriguing down-to earth looking buddhist temple beneath the cliff in one of the mountain hills.
There were some monks appeared to be practicing martial arts and I thought to myself; “is this some kind of Shaolin temple in Korea?” (which found out to be one of very few temples that continues to practices the old discipline of Hwarang which is also known as Flowering Knights.) I approached to a man who appeared to be the elder and asked what this place is and why are there so few people here with a very curious expression.
He answered “isn’t it rude to ask questions to a stranger before introducing yourself?” So then I quickly apologized but as soon as I try to say my name he cut my line to continue his own introduction. I stood there speechless with a blank look on my face. Then this elder asked me what brings me here so I told my story that I was on a penniless mission of my own to practice.. “Oh so a pilgrim I see” says the elder. “Yes practically I guess.”
The interaction felt awkward but I proceeded my inquiry boldly that if I could work here in exchange for shelter just for a night. He looked at me briefly and said, “You cannot grab a hand with the same hand” I took a moment to think for a bit and took it as a no, but that didn’t stop me there. “Look, I don’t know what that means exactly but I am a healthy young man and I just thought you could take a great use out of me here.” He bursted out with laughter and just walked away.
But few minutes later, the other monk who were observing my interaction with the elder came up to me and said, “The old man is quite stubborn you see.. That is his way of showing respect.” Being utterly confused as I was back then, this other monk showed me around the humble temple and let me stay in his own room in the end in exchange of hard work by loading heavy logs, harvesting crops, and cleaning the temple.
As you can tell, I haven’t done much other than asking quite boldly followed by clear intention with honesty. I learned that we have natural instincts to help one another and bring values that can help each other grow. Which brings holistic pleasure in our own personal growth and in other person as well. It was also very cool that I got to learn briefly about the history of Hwarang and that it has been faded away with only a number of people still continuing to preserve the essence of the teachings of Hwarang to this day.
4.Hitch-hike or Carpool
You can get on board with someone going in the same direction, or if you have a car, you can let others to join in thereby offsetting fuel costs. Carpooling usually requires some planning, as travelers will look to fill their car way in advance of their departure. Some travelers advertise on travel forums (thorntree.lonelyplanet.com), and there are websites specifically dedicated to this kind of ride sharing like erideshare.com, compartir.org and hitchhikers.org. While this requires some planning unlike hitch-hiking, carpooling is more likely a safer option. You can meet the person in advance of the trip (preferably in a public place), as well as check their phone numbers, photo ID and references. Though of course, in some parts of the world, such as Cuba, hitch-hiking is just part of the way of life.
6.Crew Work
You don’t need to know everything about navigating the sea or how to run the engines of a ship or have mechanical knowledge, even though it will be great to be able to do some of these things which will get you a paid position on board. Surprisingly, often times an extra set of hands is enough to earn you the working passage on a yacht. if you want to get a feel for the kinds of options available, check out UK-based Crew-seekers international: crewseekers.net (Note: A membership fee applies).
if you are spiced up on an adventure – or happen to find yourself in a port town – then just get yourself down and start asking questions. Check out the restaurants, bars and check the bulletin boards for ads and consider posting your own. At different times of the year “repositioning crossings” take place – boat owners have limited weather window during which time they must move their ship. Get yourself to the right place at the right time. With the right mentality you are almost set to get on board.
7.Donate your Talent
Religious organizations or communities let others donate their time and effort to hop on their mission even to global international opportunities provided with food supplies and a place to stay during the time period. The bigger the community the better chance you will get in broader area. You may look into some big church monastery and/or missionary organization under the name such as, Salesio, and Benedict. They have churches all over the globe and take young talents to donate their time to help people around the world. If you happen to find a local church or any sort of monastery contact them or simply visit them and kindly ask if they could lend you some help. Worst they can do is say no, so what? There are still thousands of other options you can take from this route. Apply for it or either simply join the community and gain some insight.
If you happen to not find any local religious communities then you can join some free social media groups or online communities you can find easily there.
8.Transport Other People’s Vehicles
When people move from one place to another, they often have their car sent and this is where you come in. Start by inquiring directly with car rental or relocation companies, some of whom need drivers to move vehicles from one city to another in a limited number of days. Checking for ads or advertising your own services in city, community, or university newspaper classified sections could also bring you in contact with a car owner in need of a driver. Try advertising and looking in both the city where you are and in the city that you want to travel to. Australia-based rental companies including Britz (britz.com.au), and Maui (maui.com.au) require occasional relocations throughout the year. And at season’s end, they often need to move a number of vehicles en-masse to specific location due to seasonal demand. Keep in mind that many companies require you to be at least 21 years of age.
9.Win an Award
Alright, this sounds like a long shot, but if you’re short on the money and long on time you’ll be absolutely stunned by how many contests there are available online.
some very well known and big international free entry competition like ADAA(Adobe Design Achievement Awards) offer tickets to winners to fly to San Diego for awarding prizes and ceremonies and much more (However this contest is for design students). This will depend on the project and the theme of whatever competition you have entered. Meeting top professionals in a field you are passionate in can often give you a surprising opportunities which is the real prize after winning an ward for anybody in this case. Even though this can be very difficult to achieve it is still an option worth trying if you want to open up more doors on your path.
There is also tons of travel contests you can enter. just Google “travel contests” and you’ll get hundreds of pages of results. if you are not picky about where you go, a little time and effort invested might get your seat pretty sooner than you think.
10.Use the Pilgrim Routes
The pilgrim routes or you may also call it as the “rite of passage” sometimes can be the life changer along the journey which is also comparably safer than most routes you will take along the penniless-journey. Some passages will be hidden and won’t be able to find just by surfing through internet. You might have to gain some information about the pilgrim route from local person or just create one of your own maybe. But the point is, you are getting to experience the thought processes and insights on previous sages or saints who have walked along the path with some extra scenery you will get to see during the journey as well. Within this journey you also get to meet like-minded people who are walking alongside with you. The friendship you gain from a trip like this will be unforgettable and the experience you go through even in solitude will be a great reflection time.
here is the link of great list for you to investigate on.

11.Help & Stay in Monasteries
As a free living soul and determined character with little less than your body and backpack who happens to stumble across the temples or monasteries, they sometimes find people like yourself in need of hands. You will find their way of living and philosophies and cultures within the harmony of nature (not always though). Willing to work and take disciplines at any cost will get you far. in some cases, there were people who are open, very generous and kind to give extra supplies for the next destination.
12.Couch-Surf
This one you might already know since it has become exceedingly popular among travelers. Couchsurf is a hospitality exchange and social networking website. The website provides a platform for members to “surf” on couches by staying as a guest at a host’s home, host travelers, or join an event. likely with someone who has a few things in common with you. For a night, two or even three you could stay on a couch, your own room or even a yurt out back for free. One aspect of CouchSurfing that people find appealing is that you are able to get to experience an area with a local. Another aspect of CouchSurfing that people find appealing is that hosts and couch surfers have profiles and reviews from past guests and their hosts so you can get a general feel for the person before contacting them.
13.Take Hard-Core Challenges
if you are the sort of person who would welcome the challenge of climbing the mount everest to raise money for charity, this one could be for you. One of the newest trends in travel has seen companies springing up that will help you organize the challenge of your choice or join an exiting expedition all in the name of charity. You do the expedition (or other adventure), and raise the sponsors, they take care of the rest. Check out Global Adventure Challenges, Across the Divide or Charity Treks.

Father & Son In The Wild
No CommentsAs I mentioned before at the end of previous video called “Reunion in Korea”, I went on and proceeded the journey with my dad.
Growing up, neither my dad nor myself had a chance of getting together and go on an outdoor activities like this. It is something my dad has also wanted to do for a long time.
The timing and opportunity was just about right and there were no excuse to not do it. Just make it happen and well enjoy the result of effort from preparing and planning this short journey.

Living without regrets
No CommentsRead moreWe live in a society that constantly preaches security and comfort. Security and comfort may have its place. But it can lead a lot of us into living a life that really doesn’t fulfill us. We sacrifice the moment of “now” for the sake of better future. we keep relationships that feel safe instead of the ones that help us evolve in our personal growth. It will be easiest to just make it through each day. But that is not the way any of us are suppose to be living. we can seize life, enjoy it immensely but first we need to take claim that sense of adventure.
1.OPPORTUNITIES
“You regret the things you didn’t do rather than the things you did.” Because not every opportunity comes twice and every given moment will always be different than the next. When you have a given opportunity you should at least try. when people face discomfort or an idea of discomfort, we automatically and subconsciously try to avoid that situation. But often times amazing things are waiting for you just beyond that self-made border. The funny thing about trying out and a little bit of a challenge in and out of itself can be very rewarding or exciting because it expands your comfort-zone by exploring your own discomfort.
2.LETTING GO OF CONTROL
Accept and embrace the fact that you are not perfect and that you can’t control everything around you. But you can control the way you perceive life. This can be very hard to take in at times because we tend to hide away from our imperfections and often afraid of facing our true selves without laying filters on top of each other. This self-identification of one’s persona is an ego; a self projected image of ourselves, of what we wish to be and what we wish to be seen as from other people. When you fully let go of this ego, we start to open up ourselves for a more genuine and true relationships with people around us followed by the immense sense of liberation.
3.THE GOOD AND THE BAD
In our minds, we have a filtering mechanism that splits situations, people, objects and/or ideas into this two major factor “good and bad”. Just like a flip side of a coin, those two are inseparable and necessary to exist as a whole. When we label and name things you negate everything else that it could be. In other words, there are no such thing as good or bad. It is just a filtering mechanism in our minds. Knowing this and being mindful of this can help us immensely in our personal growth and inner strength for about any hardships or difficulties through our lives.
4.EXPERIMENT WITH CONFIDENCE
Self confidence is a frequently discussed topic which has its reason for it to be. But here, I am talking about a slightly different idea of self confidence. I should rather put it as “Self-Reliance”. Meaning you are no longer afraid of being afraid. You are no longer afraid of pain, of grief, of being sensitive.. in other words you are no longer blocked from life coming towards you. Without avoiding our problems and without covering up, experimenting with these inner reliance that you would normally feel very uneasy about will lead you on a journey towards the realization of the self in relation to this world. Lacking this sort of confidence in your decision, your core, or your identity; will be like trying to calm the water with a flat iron and all that will do is to stir it up even more.
5.ACTION SPEAKS LOUDER THAN WORDS, PURPOSE DRIVES ACTION WITH VITALITY
A question that we should all ask ourselves until death, a question that shouldn’t be answered, but live in to strive for, and a question we should all be curious and experiment on is something called “purpose”. Most people think of dream as something to be achieved and something substantial in their life to “grasp” or attain. But a dream is not something meant to be grabbed or to be domesticated and controlled because it wouldn’t be a dream if it did in the first place. As soon as we grasp it, we immediately look for another goal of never ending loop of lust and search for something else to grab without really being in the moment of this journey called life. The irony we have about this idea of a dream is something we think that will make us fulfill our lives and make us feel better or happy about ourselves. This is especially significant for the seed of our soul since it is a route of the question; where did consciousness come from? and why are we conscious about our consciousness? We ponder to look inward and say to ourselves “live to find out or die slowly without even trying”
6.MAKE DECISION FROM YOUR HEART NOT FROM YOUR MIND
The heart. In other words, your core purpose in life. It is a source of your vitality and what drives you through any hardships and challenges in life with total zest. What I mean by making decisions with your mind is that you are deciding something out of your ego; which is not rooting from your true self and end up living a total lie. For instance, making friends with someone expecting something in return. Giving out loads of money to a homeless person thinking to get a good exposure of yourself, and the lists go on.. When you stick to your core without lying to oneself, You start to see through these lies and masks people try to hide behind because actions driven by purpose does not require any acceptance or other people’s approval.
7.APPRECIATE
When people say “the world doesn’t owe you anything”, it means you are not just a victim sent to this world. There are times we take everything for granted. Accept it. Move on to reflect on it. The moments we can share as a human being in and out of itself should be considered as privilege no matter what the circumstance is without comparing with other people around you. It is an experience that we individually go through and being able to share that is something very hard to put it in words.

I am not an expert on this bush-crafting field and it was a great experience for me to slowly learn some techniques to improve upon… This was my first time building such a thing.

This place is surrounded by river and also quite isolated from villages and people. The place is like a small plateau near the river; so even if it rains this place will still be in tact without anything flooding into the area.
When I searched the entire area there were no signs of boars or any dangerous wild animals around here. I have only seen little elk and some roe deers…
and here’s the map of this place

This is a first preparation day for the mission trip. My friend Joowon voluntarily tagged along to help me with loading up gears and going across the river in search for a campsite in order to hide our first supply box.The water was freezing cold and the temperature dropped to about 0C at night.
first preparation complete. Next one is to search area of the route and scout for another campsite in order to build a shelter.

Mission Trip1 “reunion in the wild”-intro
2 CommentsNext VideoRead moreI was quite surprised when my friends from London told me that they are coming to Korea Before I leave for world travel.
From this excitement I decided to make a plan to make them experience the most memorable moments to carry with them.
For a safety reason and for a little adventure, I will have to go and visit a place called Gangwondo every weekend to check the route and to install some necessary items that will be used along the journey.
Even though this is a surprise event for them, I still had to ask some basic questions if they are willing to let me guide them for 3 days straight during their stay in Korea. They agreed and the planning begun.
Although it is a rough plan; some minor changes will occur after checking out all the route and campsites while I’m on it for the next video blog on preparation.

Curious?
2 CommentsPrevious VideoRead moreSince I was little, I was a child who never knew how to let go but always had to leave every time I make new friendships. Always tethering myself to those memories and wishing it to be the same. I was attached to those things that I cannot change.
It occurred to me that everybody wishes to hold forever and ever to the memories of people and the situations that we particularly love.
But is this what we actually want? I honestly don’t know.. I don’t know whether the mask called personality deluded the way of life and pretending to be ok. I don’t know whether becoming somebody or being somebody actually mean anything or not.
This is a story we see and hear in our daily lives and a story we are already involved in the process of living. We often forget to appreciate it and I am no different.
Which is why I will dive deep into the void. Always moving and leaving behind everything I thought I was and everything I am attached to.. as an empty vessel and as nobody.
This journey will start with no money except for the initial flight to the States; where the journey will begin. Aiming to reach Chile for temporary station to plan another journey there.
I know this is going to be my biggest challenge to overcome uncertainties and some desperation by facing reality with just my backpack and some tools. It is something that I’ve been longing to do in my heart.
There is something about “going into discomfort” that can start to wake us up. Fresh and clear.. Being mindful in each moment of either fear, freedom, loneliness or consciousness is something that can’t be truly appreciated by staying in my own comfort-zone.
Reach out and let go. It has found you.

Memories of Daehan
No CommentsNext VideoRead more1100km 63 villages and 15 provinces with backpack and limbs. Over the mountains and under the water; this is a video montage of flashbacks of lone-traveling with no money in south Korea; The sound of leaves falling, the smell of a barn full of dusts and generosity of people who slid by along the journey.. All frozen in time.
I thank all the anonymous supporters, families and very generous people whom I met along this journey during my stay in Korea. The moments and memories I’ve had in my home country is filled with gratitude to this day.
